One of Butlers main points was to move away from the assumption that sex is expressed through gender, and sexuality. She thinks that it is the exact opposite. While readig this piece Butler talks alot about Identity, and how we do not even know what it means to define ourseleves as we are doing so currently. What does it mean to be gay? or a Lesbian? or Straight? or what do our jobs mean professionaly? Are these certain things that are needed to be vocalized so that we can have an identity in the world?

Butler also discusses categories, and judgement. When we judge someone there is a risk being taken. Judgement is a threat to the individuals identity. Once again we revisit the categories like Derrida, and Levi-Strauss, when we out someone into a category without knowing them, we are saying that they must have to fit into that one category because if they do not then there is not place for them at all and that is unacceptable.
